Laying technique of GMH Bricks

Date:2016-12-13 / Popularity:

As new refractory materials for 2500T/D, 5000T/D, and rotary kilns above the two series, GMH Bricks have little expansion in high temperature. Therefore, the following points are worth of attention:
1. GMH Bricks shall be laid with arch beam method (masonry machine) for kiln with diameter above 4 meters;
2. Preparation of plaster;
2.1. Plaster or fire clay for GMH Bricks shall be put in the rain and moisture proof warehouse;
2.2. Special tools shall be used to prepare fire clay of GMH Bricks, and shall be cleaned in a timely manner;
2.3. Drinking water shall be used to prepare the fire clay, which shall be mixed and weigh evenly;
Plaster for GMH Bricks can be directly used. A special blending agent, instead of water shall be used when plaster begins to solidify or become hard;
3. The vertical base line and ring base line shall be measured;
4. Wood or rubber hammers shall be used instead of iron hammers;
5. Bricks shall be placed firmly with wood hammers to squeeze extra mud, and ensure solid connection (brickwork joint ≤1mm ) and sufficient mud (more than 95%, and in situation where big ends of bricks have mortar and small ends do not have, the bricks shall be dismantled) among bricks; the joint on the surface shall filled with the mud, and extra amount shall be removed;
6. Each ring and section shall be check with the preset base line. Vertical joints and the kiln axis shall be in the same plane; ring joints shall be parallel and vertical with the kiln axis. In deformation of the kiln, steel plates and cement shall be used to make alignment;
7. The interior bricks of the rotary kiln shall be laid in staggered joints. Bricks shall be firmly sticked with the kiln shell to ensure they are concentric;
8. Mis-placement, tilt, uneven mortar joints, climbing, de-centering, overlapped joints, straight joints, gapes, void laying, and mixed slurry shall be avoided in brick laying;
9. Laying of lock bricks:
9.1 Processed brickss shall not be used as Lock bricks. Lock bricks shall be 2 to 3 bricks away from on the center of the vault;
9.2. Processed bricks shall be 2 to 3 bricks away from on the center of the vault;
9.3. Joint bricks shall be used for the closing parts. For the last 5~6 bricks, joint or ordinary bricks with the right size shall be used to place big ends at the front and small ends at the back to avoid  falling bricks.  The last brick of each ring shall be placed from the side, and the lock bricks of the last ring shall be placed from the front;
9.4. The air pressure of the brick laying machine shall be no less than 2.8Kg/cm2.
10. Size of processed bricks:
10.1. The size of capping bricks inside the rotary kiln and under the brick-supporting plate shall be no less than 70% of the original bricks;
10.2. The size of connecting bricks of the plane shall be no less than 1/2 of the original bricks;
10.3. The processed sides of bricks shall not face the interior of the kiln.
11、Bricks shall be checked in the running kiln. Loose bricks shall be firmly fastened with steel plates.
